We argue about him, Billy and me. Billy laughs, says there’s no such things as angels but I tell him not to be so stupid, course there are I tell him, says so in The Bible.
He’s been in the park for ever, well longer than my gran can remember and she’s old. We’re lucky to have him she says, he was brought from under the sea, from a shipwreck and there isn’t another like him in the whole world, my gran says.
Gran took very ill, we all went round and stood by her bed.
Billy’s wrong about angels.

Beautifully expressed. Indeed, Billy is wrong, in more ways than one. I like how everyone stood by Gran’s bed when she became ill. I think “everyone” included angels, and “everyone” may have been angels to Gran.

Thank you for your kind comment Ilyan
Billy was quite wrong and “everyone standing by her bed” certainly did include angels I think

Never been to Kentucky, but you could see them there, or somewhere like that.
I saw them in an old cotton town in northern England, but they could be anywhere.
Thanks Rich

Sweet, heartwarming story about gran and angels. Love the idea that they found her under the sea. Think of what else is down there …yet to be discovered? Like Atlantis.

Thanks for reading my story Lora, I thought the statue looked like something from Greek/Roman mythology, but rather than be found on land, beneath the waves seems more mystical
