I’m grateful for a re-run this week. After years of searching we finally have a holiday home in France – more about that later. It has take up a lot of our time and I have missed chances to post anything as the internet connection at present is so slow, so very happy to offer up this post from 2012.

The auction guide said 75,000; the place was almost a ruin it would take a lot of time and money to make it habitable.
Rose pouted, her Manolos were scratched, her hair a mess. Sam smiled, “could be beautiful” he said.
Rose glowered and thought of what she could buy with 75,000+
It would never be beautiful, she frowned, it was an old ugly mess. She was a city girl.
Sam took her arm and led her inside, showing her his plans for Rose Cottage.

Dee, I’d love to know more about that summer home in France. You folks in the UK get to do so much we don’t … but then again, we don’t live near the places we dream about because we’re on the other side of the world. Haha! But seriously, folks …

We have bought a small house in an old village in the Languedoc region of SW France. It is an area of vineyards and small villages about 40 minutes from the coast and we feel very lucky to have it after searching for more years than I care to remember! Being close to the European mainland has its advantages, but travelling round the USA offers us the chance to see some of the places of our dreams too.

Thank you. The house has a few more mod cons than Rose’s cottage and is in a lovely area, so I feel quite blessed to be able to go there whenever I am able.

Nice repost, Dee. I don’t remember this one from the first run, but then I have a hard time remembering what I had for breakfast this morning. I’m glad Rose had enough faith in Sam (and his dream) to stick it out and enjoy the outcome. I love happy endings. Well done.

I think the cover of ”Homes & Gardens’ did the trick! Our place was renovated quite a few years ago thankfully as we are much good as D-I-Y – apart from decorating. Thanks for reading Margaret, hope all is well.
